The Bold Type on Freeform. First up is a bad-ass show on Freeform called The Bold Type. If you loved Sex and the City or The Devil Wears Prada, you are going to looovvveee this show! It’s about three women post-grad working in New York City (my lust of a city to travel to) at a magazine ala Cosmopolitain called Scarlet. It is actually closely linked to the real Cosmo Editor, Joanna Coles, who all serves as an executive director. Throw in a fashion closet that dreams are made of and some scandalous yet intellectual plot twists and you have just discovered your next cult fave. It airs Tuesday nights at 8pm CST. Get the vino and hit me up on Twitter @GingeredState.
The next thing I am loving this week is the Cheer Up Buttercup essential oil by NOW Essential Oils. You can find this brand at your local natural grocery store. It is special because it is a mixture of oils that are uplifting but not like you just squeezed a grapefruit in your eye type of wake up. It is a blend of 5 oils: Bergamot, Orang, Lime, Grapefruit, and Lemon. Sounds acidic but I swear to you that it is just hello mixed with happy. Maybe the bergamot evens out the others, idk. All I know is I put it in my ultrasonic diffuser and sit it on my desk while I work. It has stepped up my productivity game but will not help my getting easily distracted. Get yours here.
Third, is the body oil I got in my FabFitFun Summer 2017 box, Post-Training Massage Oil No. 03 by WILL. I wasn’t terribly interested in this when I received it in the box. “Eh, ok, another body oil” I thought. Then, I tried it. Just like the essential oil, it has an awakening, happy scent of peppermint and (to me) lemon. The label says Peppermint and German, Chamomile, Jojoba, and Lemongrass– so that must be what I smell. It is supposed to help your muscles recover after a workout and I can see how the scent would uplift you if you’re feeling worked after a good cardio sesh. I, however, just love to slather it on and soak in the hydrating goodness. The products are 100% pure oils. Never degraded. No artificial coloring. Cruelty Free (yassss!). It’ isn’t a dry oil, though, so beware. You will leave a greasy slick of your butt wherever you sit. It was worth it. Totally worth it.

Coming in hot at numero quatro (that’s 4 in spanish and about all the Spanish I know) is the Becoming Fearless podcast by Style Collective founder, Annie Spano. I’ll admit, I didn’t know how much I’d get out of listening to this podcast. I already listen to many podcasts about travel or politics, but I had just recently signed up to be a member of Style Collective and figured it wouldn’t hurt to listen when my other podcasts were all listened up… you know…as a backup. Style Collective is a website dedicated to creating a community for women entrepreneurs seeking knowledge, tips, or just an uplifting digital pat on the back. Madeleine Albright once said “There is a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.” That is exactly what Style Collective is all about: Women helping women. Now, I find myself craving for the next episode to air. I have just started out in the world of blogging. It is tough, to say the very least. I am learning about WordPress and how to be a digital marketer. I am trying to balance churning out consistent, quality content, while working OT at my full-time job. Most days, I feel discouraged. I love helping people. It is truly my passion and warms my heart. However, my job sucks the soul out of me. This can’t be it. This can’t be what I’ve gone into so much student loan debt to do. Every week I hear another story on this podcast that encourages me to forge ahead. The podcast is not just for bloggers or entrepreneurs. It’s for people who know there has got to be something more out there. Those of us who won’t be satisfied with mediocre happiness. Those who are currently discouraged while trying to find their true north. If you need a group of like-minded women to sit in your car with you and tell you they felt the same way you feel right now, and kept pushing, this listen is for you. Check out the biggest babe of a podcast here!
